Laila Fox is the Assistant Director at the Center for Gulf Coast Environmental Health Research, Leadership and Strategic Initiatives. She has a multidisciplinary background in urban/regional planning and public health. Laila works to improve human well-being, emphasizing needs assessment and service delivery, navigating complex social systems, and relying on community-based participatory methods. Much of her experience lies in bolstering the resilience of Gulf Coast individuals and communities by designing and implementing post disaster needs assessments and interventions to affect change in healthcare coordination. Laila leads the Center's Community Health Worker Program, where she marries the guiding principles of patient navigation and the core competencies of successful community health worker programs.
