Maxine Pixens, BSN

Received a BS degree in Nursing from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Louisiana. Previously a Certified Gerontological Nurse and a Certifed Long Term Care Surveyor by CMS (formerly Health Care Financing Administration). Retired from the state of Louisiana after working as an Ob-Gyn Head Nurse for several years at Huey P Long state hospital. Later was a surveyor for the State Health Standards Section and then Medical Certification Regional Manager at Health Standards for the last 18 years prior to retirement.

Actively involved in several national, state and local organizations in leadership positions serving the community. Currently a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Nursing Honor Society. Also, currently serves as a Board Member for the Cenla Medication Access Program, Arna Bontemps Museum. Previous membership in the American Nurses Association, Louisiana State Nurses Association and the Alexandria District Nurses Association. Also, served on the Advisory Committee with the Louisiana AIDS Advocacy Network and the LA Region 6 HIV/AIDS Community Planning Group.
